Supplies Needed

  1. White card stock (65 lb or heavier) Available at Staples, Grand & Toy, Walmart, Zellers, UPS Stores etc.
  2. Heavy duty clear packing tape
  3. Large safety pins – Available from the dollar stores, Zellers, etc
  4. Cable ties, also known as Zip ties (60 for $1.00 - Dollarama & Zellers
  5. Metal hangers – available free of charge from local dry cleaners
  6. Heavy duty Ziploc or “zip-top” type bags – qt and gal
  7. Pair of Scissors

Preparation

  1. Gather all the gently used Fall and Winter items your kids are no longer utilizing

  2. Ensure the items are not part of a recall. Below are some websites to check:

  4. For the clothes, ensure the following:

  5. They’re in style, in season and wrinkle free

    They’re not over 4 years old, have no stains, tears, holes or missing buttons

  6. For the hardware :-) Toys, baby equipment, DVD’s, CD-ROM’s Puzzles etc.
            Ensure items are clean – get the dirt out of those nooks and crannies:

    • Ensure there are no missing pieces
    • Items do not have torn or missing decals. Replacement decals are sometimes available from Wal-Mart, Zellers, Michaels and other stores
    • Items requiring batteries have them and are in proper working condition and do not have missing parts
    • Ensure they’re not on a recall list:
      Note on Car Seats – To sell car and booster seats, Sellers will be required to print and sign a Car seat and Booster seat checklist showing that the seat has not been recalled and meets other requirements. Click here to view the document.
  7. Sort the clothes by gender, then by size
  8. Separate the items in broad categories – toys, equipment, books etc
  9. To make the online inventory creation easy, we recommend writing the details of each item on a piece of paper – see example below. However, you don’t have to do this.
